    I stayed here on July 2022, 7. I've lived a life far removed from Buddhism and religion, and I came here with almost no knowledge of temple lodgings or Mount Minobu. I didn't do any research beforehand, and assumed that a stay at a temple lodging would be similar to a guesthouse. However, I was struck by the simplicity yet thorough cleanliness of the rooms and corridors. I could sense the tradition and history of Buddhism there. And yet, this is not just a place of the past. It is a living space that conveys tradition to the present and connects it to the future. You can truly have a genuine "temple lodging experience."
    My mother passed away last year, and I had a lot of emotions to process. During the evening service, the monks were kind enough to read out my mother's name, which was very moving. It felt like a heartfelt gift that I could take home with me. I am truly grateful to the head priest, his wife, and the young monks. Through the head priest's careful explanation,

    Thank you very much for your hospitality during my stay. I also apologize for any inconvenience caused by the number of people. The temple was very quiet at night, and it felt like my soul was being cleansed. My daily life is hectic both at work and in my personal life, so I spent some time lost in thought in the detached room. I couldn't help but wonder, "Why is this place so calming? What brings this serenity?" When I made a list of the things in my room, I realized that really, all I need is the bare necessities. It was a very meaningful time.
    If I have the opportunity next time, I would like to simply talk with the head priest, rather than meditating or copying sutras. I would be very happy if such an opportunity were to arise. Although it is quite far from my home, I am also a big fan of the nearby Whale Museum, so I would definitely like to visit again. Please take care of yourself. And once again, thank you very much.

    I love visiting temples and shrines, so I was thrilled to finally be able to visit Kuonji Temple, a place I'd always wanted to visit. My request was a bit selfish: I wanted to participate in both the copying of sutras and the morning and evening services on a day when the head priest was absent. To my surprise, they kindly arranged for someone to take my place, and I was truly touched by their thoughtfulness. It was a truly special experience.
    As I was the only guest staying that night, I received one-on-one instruction during my prayers and sutra copying, a rare and luxurious experience that you would never find at a luxury hotel or inn. The room, bath, and restroom were immaculately clean, and the food was delicious. Hearing about Mt. Shichimen from the monks and temple staff made me want to visit it someday, and I have now resolved to start working hard to build up my physical strength for that trip. The monks and temple staff were all incredibly kind.

    We loved the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of this facility. The staff and the head priest were wonderful, very patient and kind. The temple was clean and provided space for self-reflection. The room was comfortable and well heated. The in-room bathroom and washer/dryer were great.
    We participated in the temple activities, including morning services, copying sutras, and searching for a key in the dark (kaidan pilgrimage). All were wonderful experiences that we will treasure. We would wholeheartedly recommend this temple to family and friends. Thank you for all your help.

    I highly recommend this place! It's very close to the station, and the host gave me very clear directions with photos. It's next to the train tracks, but the noise isn't too bad, and most trains stop running after 22pm, so it wasn't a problem at all. It's exactly as pictured. The host is wonderful and always available to help with any issues. The temple is beautiful, and the people who work there, even if only for a brief encounter, were some of the friendliest I've met in Japan. The temple is beautiful and peaceful.
