About Kanzaki Temple

As a temple of the Daigo school of Shingon Buddhism, Kanzaki-dera continues to preserve the traditions of Shugendo.

Located in Katori County, Chiba Prefecture, it is a sacred place whose realm is the Kanzakiyama "Dainichiyama."

They place great importance on prayer and training, and are close to the hearts of the people, performing various religious ceremonies such as goma prayers, funerals, and memorial services.

Kanzaki-dera Temple is a historic temple located in Katori County, Chiba Prefecture, and is the 44th temple of the Kanto 88 Temple Pilgrimage. Its origins date back to the Edo period, and it has attracted devout worshippers as a training center for the Keiinhoryu school of Shugendo. It was closed once during the anti-Buddhist movement in the Meiji period, but was reopened in the Showa period and is now starting a new chapter in its history as a place to spread the teachings of Esoteric Shingon Buddhism.

Even today, many people visit Kanzaki-dera Temple as a place of spiritual refuge, purifying their bodies and minds through goma prayers and memorial services, and deepening their faith. The view of the Tone River from the summit and a moment of prayer in the silence are truly moments that heal the soul.
