Kannon-in Temple is a 10-year-old temple located a 380-minute walk from the Kiryu Shinmachi Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. In 2019, we partnered with Sharewing to fully launch the Kiryu Teramachi Project, which aims to create a new tourist attraction in Kiryu.As the first step of the project, a lodging facility called "Temple Hotel Kannon-in" was opened in 2019. Since then, it has become a gateway to tourism in Kiryu, where locals and tourists can mingle."Kiryu TeramachiThe second part of the project aims to create a new local attraction that combines a park, cafe and tourist information center, so that more tourists can not only stop by but also stay.<The number of tourists is high, but their stay is short>
Kiryu City has many attractions, including nature activities, campsites, modern heritage sites, and important traditional buildings. The number of tourists reaches about 350 to 430 million people per year, but most of them are just passing through, and the short length of stay is an issue.In response to this issue,Kiryu TeramachiThe project involved creating a park within the temple grounds and creating a multi-functional hub that utilizes the local resource of the temple, with the aim of creating a tourist route that encourages people to "walk, connect, and stay in the town."
An inclusive park where you can also play in the water
Utilizing a corner of the grounds of Kannon-in Temple, we have created an area where people can splash around in water. It is designed as a place that not only tourists but also local residents with children can casually drop in to. It is an "inclusive park" where people of all ages and with or without disabilities can interact in nature.
Cafe "Shara Sabo" with Oriental Wisdom
We offer mainly "Herbal Tea", a health tea based on traditional Korean herbal medicine that incorporates the blessings of nature and is based on the principles of Oriental medicine.
