JINJA STAY begins: Surrender yourself to the tranquility of the shrine and calm your mind
We are launching a brand called "JINJA STAY," which proposes a new style of travel that offers visitors access to Japan's spiritual culture through accommodation and experiences set in shrines with over 1,000 years of history. By stepping away from the everyday and stepping into the sacred grounds, you will have the chance to experience a special time to deeply reflect on yourself. You will be given a formal prayer session by a Shinto priest, experience a temple lodging, spend time surrounded by nature throughout the four seasons, and interact with the local people in front of the shrine gates. These tranquil moments can only be experienced here, providing a time and place that will "change your outlook on life."As the first step, from July 2025, we will begin selling a new accommodation program in collaboration with Afuri Shrine, a 7-year-old shrine in Mt. Oyama, Kanagawa Prefecture, and the temple lodging in front of the shrine. Why Shrine Stay Now?
Sharewing has expanded its service brand "OTERA STAY" to 13 temples nationwide, offering places and experiences that change your outlook on life by allowing you to face yourself both physically and mentally through historic places such as temples, shrines, and old houses. The number of users has reached a total of about 10, and is spreading among many people both in Japan and overseas. In recent years, shrines and temples have been facing challenges such as a declining birthrate and an aging population, as well as a lack of successors. In response to these challenges, Sharewing is working with local governments and private companies to promote tourism in the region and pass on culture. We are now launching "JINJA STAY" to ensure that historic shrines can be passed on to the next generation for the next 50 or 100 years. In modern society, a stay in a "sacred space" away from everyday life brings deep recovery to the mind and body. By offering an experience that allows one to rediscover one's true self through quiet prayer and resonance with nature, this brand will create an opportunity for people who have not previously been familiar with shrines and temple lodgings to experience their charm.ADDress × JINJA STAY Collaboration project at Afuri Shrine in Isehara, Oyama
As the first step of "JINJA STAY," a two-day, one-night experiential tour will be held in collaboration with Address Co., Ltd., the operator of "ADDress," a flat-rate multi-location living platform.Set in the Oyama area of Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture,It has become a new type of "Mt. Oyama pilgrimage" that allows you to enjoy the people and culture that currently live in Mt. Oyama with people you would not normally meet.Oyama Mairi is a pilgrimage to the sacred mountain Oyama (Mt. Afurisan) in Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, which has been practiced since the Edo period. At the time, people who made the Oyama pilgrimage were mutual aid groups organized by region or workplace, called "kou" (groups), and it became particularly popular during the Edo period, with groups making the pilgrimage from Edo over a period of two to three days. It developed into a religious event that combined entertainment and tourism, not just worship, but also hot springs, souvenirs, and cuisine along the way, and at its peak, when Edo's population was one million, as many as 2 people visited Oyama annually. However, with the changing times, the number of ko has decreased, and the once thriving temple lodgings in front of temples are steadily closing. Sharewing and Address have teamed up to launch this project in order to explore a "new style of ko" made up of people who share values, travel styles, hobbies, etc., rather than the ko that were once made up of faith, workplace, or region. This project was selected as part of the "2200 Tourism Town Development Promotion Project Utilizing Historical Resources (Model Creation)" implemented by the Japan Tourism Agency, and was born out of a research project on "Revitalizing the temple town of Afuri Shrine, a XNUMX-year-old historic site of the Oyama Pilgrimage," led by Isehara City Tourism Association.
